You know you’ve got something special when you’re willing to go BEOWULF
I have been in the self-improvement (motivation) business on/off for over 5 years now.
As a content creator, there have been times when I have struggled to conceptualize certain things to the digital public (you).
There have been many times when I explained things and banged my head against the wall wondering “how can they not see it?!!!”
Motivation is one of those things. For the life of me, I never understood how people could be not be motivated to “go for it all” in life.
It’s just so foreign to me.
“What the hell do you mean you don’t care?!!!”
“How can you NOT want to kill it in all of your life’s endeavors?!!!”
I can tell you to go John Henry till I’m blue in the face. You either get it or you don’t.
I’m a lot more calm these days and my thinking has never been clearer.
The scene above comes from the movie Beowulf.
In the scene, Beowulf is trying to kill the dragon. His arm is entangled in a chain. He’s stuck and the clock is ticking.
He must kill the dragon but he cannot reach its heart.
So he does what he must. He cuts his arm in half from inside his armpit to lengthen his reach.
From there, he is able to rip out the dragon’s heart. Of course, Beowulf dies in the process.
But he killed that fucking dragon.
We all have a dragon in our lives that needs to be slain. Maybe it’s a goal. Maybe it’s an addiction that you are trying to conquer. A new business venture? A book?
Whatever that something is, you know you’ve got something special when you are willing to go Beowulf just to hold it in your hand for the entire world to see.
