The idea of having only one life is very important.

This needs to be hammered in to your head. By the time you done reading this and watching the attached video I think you will be very motivated to start thinking like this.

Now in order for this to really work I need to you to take a minute and visualize something. It’s something that you have probably never been asked to visualize before.

I want you to visualize you being old and lying on your death bed reflecting on the life you have lived.

What will you be thinking? Will you be the person who dies happily? Will it be a joyous moment where you reflect upon all of your life’s accomplishments and the exciting activities you partook in? Or will you be the other guy? Will you look back on your life with regret and die wondering… what if?

This is your time. When you lie on your deathbed, you may be surrounded by family and loved ones BUT KEEP THIS IN MIND…. you will be the only one taking that next step by passing on to the afterlife.

No one is going to be making that journey with you. You will do it by yourself.

The best thing you can do is arm yourself with the belief that you truly lived your life versus merely going through the motions and existing. Don’t be that guy.

It might sound cliché but YOUR LIFE IS A MOVIE. It’s a very unique movie though. You are the star. The plotline focuses on you. You are also the director… the boss.

You dictate what kind of cool stuff you want to fill it with. So do it.

Get in the habit of filling your life with new experiences that offer excitement because before you know it your movie will be over. Don’t let it be a dud. Make your movie amazing, one that demands a standing ovation.

Titanic Final Scene Explained

Here is the video clip I promised I’d share. Definitely watch it because this is what I am talking about.

The part to focus on starts around 1:36

This scene is what inspired me to write this article. This is from the ending of the movie Titanic.

If you really want to get the full context and truly grasp the significance of this short scene I suggest watching the entire movie if you haven’t already.

If you’ve never seen Titanic, you’ve got some work to do.

One thing I really admired about Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) in this movie was that despite being poor and lower class, he really understood what was important about life.

He lived it. He was poor and homeless prior to stepping on to that ship. He won his ticket in a game of poker minutes before Titanic’s departure.

He was also an artist. Next thing you know he’s on the ship dining with some of the richest people in the world and getting Rose to fall in love with him.

It was this concept of breaking out and simply living life that Jack really emphasized to Rose.

Fast forward many years when Rose is an old lady and Jack is long gone…. We find out that Rose took Jack’s advice to heart and did just that.

As Rose dies late at night, the camera zooms in on the pictures on her nightstand. It’s a beautiful scene because these pictures show an individual who lived life to the fullest.

There are pictures of her holding a big fish she caught, standing next to a plane she flew, and riding a horse.

Thanks to Jack, she understood that the key to a fulfilling life was filling it with adventure and new experiences. There were no regrets. She knew it was her time and was ready to die in peace.

I challenge you (I will also challenge myself) to emulate this. Do everything you can to live a life full of adventure and embrace new experiences.
