This Strength By Sonny Testimonial has been a long time in the making. It’s Cam’s story on how he got shredded to the bone after working with me on/off for the past 2 years.

I first came in to contact with Cam over 2 years ago. He had gotten my contact info from a mutual connection and right away I thought he was a cool dude. He had a good head on his shoulders and was on the right path. Our earliest discussions focused exclusively on bodybuilding and proper nutrition. He was a gym newb for the most part but had an athletic background and I could tell he had incredible genetics (far better than mine).

I have remained genuinely interested in Cam’s progress because I have always been curious as to how far you can take God given natural potential.

I think Cam has loads of potential, especially if he decides to explore the health and fitness world as his arena of competition. Everything else…. he’s a natural born winner in my eyes.

I first came into contact with Sonny about 2 years ago when i was 19 years old. He was working on another project online and i could immediately tell that he was definitely about that life. Not only was his advice different, but it was “in depth”. Info that only an experience person could dish out.

So i sent him my current workout routine and asked: “How’s this for an intense workout”…His reply: “That aint even close to enough”. He wrote down a few more exercises i needed to add and what do you know, i managed to gain 20lbs in the next 2 months.

Ever since then, i made steady progress and built a solid foundation of strength.However, i just couldn’t get as ripped as i’d always wanted. I had been aiming for that fitness model physique. Summer 2014 i tried my own version of dieting..Did the same ol’ routines i had been doing, except this time i stopped taking protein shakes and ran on the treadmill once in a while. The results were as you would expect..AVERAGE. I also partied way too much (5 times a week).

After reading the dieting article, i had an idea of what worked. and it did! It took me about 12 weeks.

Here’s what went down:

Lifting

This wasn’t my main focus. I continued the same routine i had been doing.

4 or 5 day split: Back, Chest,Legs,Shoulders….sometimes Arms.

Also made sure to superset exercises for lagging body parts.

Cardio

I feel like this all depends on your body type. Sonny naturally has a big powerlifting type of physique (Mesomorph)… My physique resembles a sprinter (picture Justin Gatlin). Lean and slender. I find it very easy to lose weight, while Sonny finds it easier to bulk up.

Taking all that into consideration, i only did 3 cardio sessions per week. 35 mins each on the treadmill. If you have the same body type that i do, i’d also suggest you don’t do any more than 3 sessions to help preserve muscle.

The Diet

This was what made the difference. I completely switched up my eating habits. In the fall/winter i ate a lot. I’m talking pizza, Oatmeal, Burgers, Fries..Basically everything you should avoid when trying to get ripped. My diet was very similar to what Sonny listed on the article.

Breakfast: 4 Boiled Eggs & Steak (Take Fish Oil Supplement)

Brunch: Protein Shake with Peanut Butter

Lunch: Mixed Veggies, 1 Potato & Chicken

WORKOUT

Post workout: Same Protein Shake & Peanut Butter

Dinner: Pork Chops & Mixed Veggies

** I’d switch things up once in a while to avoid getting bored and also had two cheat meals every two weeks.

Tips For Getting Shredded to the Bone

1. Lift the same weight for as long as you can. Do not get tempted to reduce the weight because you’re getting weaker. Slug it out

2. Train When you have energy. Morning workouts suck for me, so i train around 6pm..a couple of hours after lunch.

3. Set aside 3 months because that’s how long it will take if you want to do it naturally. I started the diet on April 8th and saw dramatic results around the 2 month mark. Might be sooner or later for you… everyone is different

4. Eat almonds & Peanuts when you’re tempted to cheat. They’ll fill you up and don’t have a lot of carbs.

5. Save your best songs on your i-pod for the last 30 mins of your workout. You’re on a diet, trust me..you’ll need all the motivation you can get. Especially towards the end.

6. Get a full body wax before you hit the beach pool party, photo shoot or whatever 😉

Benefits of Getting Shredded to the Bone

1. I feel good pretty much all day and hardly get sick.  Eating health has helped flush out toxins.

2. Facial Aesthetics..Looking much leaner.

3. If you play sports and are able to lift the same weight that you could before your cut, you’ll be a lot more agile and a better overall athlete.

4. My knees would always hurt after i passed the 205lb mark… probably because my joints couldn’t handle all that weight while i played soccer. getting down to 185 (i still look like i’m around 200lb) has helped tremendously.

5. You get more random opportunities in life. You look a lot better, you feel better.. people feed off of that energy and constantly approach you / make themselves more open to you..be it for workout tips, party invites, dates, random encounters. e.t.c.
