Happy 2016 everybody! Congratulations. 2015 is the past and you have made it to the beginning of a new year.

It’s a new beginning. It’s a new opportunity. If you like to think big, it’s a new era.

How do you feel? You should feel amazing. Do you know why?…

Because the psychology of new is at play.

What is the Psychology of New?

The psychology of new is simply my fancy way of characterizing what happens when your life becomes saturated with the word “new”.

The beginning of the New Year is a time when everyone feels and thinks in terms of “new.”

Everyone views the New Year as a new beginning. It’s a time to hit the reset button and start over.

People feel amazing and they often feel mentally refreshed, even if they are under a mountain of stress.

People have new hopes. People have new goals.

People start new workout programs. Maybe they want to lose weight. Maybe they want to lose muscle. This is why gyms are always so packed at the beginning of the year.

People are enthusiastic. Their competitive spirits are firing on full blast.

The psychology of new is also in full effect when people buy “new” stuff. Everyone feels awesome after they buy new clothes or new jewelry. The same goes for buying a new car.

How do most people fail in regards to the psychology of new?

Again, let’s look to the gym during New Year’s as a classic example. The gym is packed on January 1st. But what happens after that?

Little by little, the “New Year’s” crowd starts to fade out until all that remains are the regulars who have always gone there.

Why is this? The reason is because people lose that initial enthusiasm and drive. They start off strong and amped up but eventually they get back to reality. They go back to normal.

They fail to realize the importance of the psychology of new.

How can you consistently implement the psychology of new?

It’s very simple. Avoid stagnation as if it were a disease. Stagnation is a long-term slump or plateau. Some people remain there forever…

The way you avoid stagnation is by doing everything you can to undertake new journeys both literally and figuratively.

– Start a new habit (lifestyle) of lifting weights.

– Go on a long road trip.

– Make new friends.

– Start a new project.

– Pick up a new hobby.

– Get new clothes and new jewelry.

– Build new elements in to your personal brand.

– Move to a new city.

– Get a new job (or start your own business).

Whatever you have to do… just get “new” in your life. When you do this consistently, that term “new” becomes ingrained in your mind. You are able to keep moving forward and remain competitive because you realize the hustle never stops.

There is only evolution. Evolution of goals. Evolution of mindset.

And above all, be positive and be optimistic. We are all equal because we are all students of life.

“New” will always be there for you when you wake up in the morning. It’s a new day 🙂
